Weinbach, Pinot Gris Altenbourg SGN Vintage:2007 the 1999 is somewhat one-dimensional

the 1999 is somewhat one-dimensional and not likely to improve considerably from here

on the other hand is fabulous

The contours are more modern and the fruit leans towards the darker end of spectrum

This is a focused effort that exhibits controlled power and a lovely sense of underlying tension

Weinbach, Pinot Gris Altenbourg SGN Vintage:2007 the 1999 is somewhat one-dimensional(for 375 ml.; 9. 9% alcohol, 161 g l r. s. and 10 grams of acidity) Deep yellow gold. Carnal, exotic aromas of orange blossom, game, smoke and earth. Superripe, thick and powerful, but given great penetration by almost painful acidity. Wonderfully dense and concentrated wine with a tactile, salty finish that refuses to let up. Like the '07 Riesling SGN, this is just hinting at the complexity to come. Stephen Tanzer
