Over the course of Mixers career, seven horse breed associations commissioned him to paint their breeds ideal. These images have cemented Mixers place as one of historys preeminent equine artists. In celebration of the American Paint Horse Associations 40th birthday in 2002, they commissioned Mixer to paint a new portrait.
