The top cover bears serial number 8284 on this very fine example of the most prolific German issued Light Machine gun of WW2

It is complete with sling swivels and is dated "1883" it may have been intended for Camel mounted troops in Algeria

There is also a sliver of wood missing next to the barrel tang
