Here we have a very smart original Eagle Headed and ivory gripped U. S. Officer's sword, typical of the type made in the 1830s and later. The sword is all brass mounted with a standard "D" hand guard and a a very nice "closed mouth" Eagle pommel. The grip is fluted ivory or bone, and has split down the middle on both sides, so it is loose on the tang. The hand guard is also somewhat loose, and the original gilding on
